Little Gem Lettuce

Little gem lettuce is a delightful cross between romaine and butter lettuce, giving it some of the sturdiness of romaine with the slightly sweet flavor of Bibb. (You'll also see the more common romaine head lettuces in your box--the following applies to romaine lettuce, as well!)

Keep the heads in a plastic bag or covered plastic/glass container in the refrigerator. Because the heads are harvested in tact, be sure to inspect close to the core & roots for dirt that might've been missed in the washing process.

Enjoy little gem lettuce torn up in your favorite salad, or use the cup-like leaves for lettuce wraps. You can also cut the heads in half and sear them on the grill, drizzled with a strong dressing.
